What personal information we collect

Trekway Shuttles does not collect private or personal information from this website except where you willingly provide it — for example, when you make a booking, request a quote, submit the contact form, or otherwise correspond with us. We store all personal information on a secure database with controlled access. If you contact us, we may retain a record of that correspondence.

From time to time we may also ask you to complete short surveys, which we use for research, training and service-improvement purposes. Any information you provide will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

When you book a shuttle, charter or tour we typically collect: your name, email address, phone number, pickup and drop-off addresses, travel dates and times, passenger and luggage counts, any vehicle preference, and any special notes you provide. Payment details are processed via our payment processor (Stripe); we do not store full card numbers ourselves.

We may also collect information provided to us by third parties where you have authorised this or the information is publicly available.

How we use your personal information

We may use your personal information to:

  • Verify your identity;
  • Provide our shuttle, charter and tour services to you;
  • Market our services to you, including contacting you electronically (for example, by SMS, WhatsApp or email) where you have agreed to receive such communications;
  • Improve the services we provide to you;
  • Bill you and collect any amounts you owe us, including authorising and processing card transactions through Stripe;
  • Respond to communications from you, including any complaint;
  • Conduct research and statistical analysis (on an anonymised basis);
  • Protect and/or enforce our legal rights and interests, including defending any claim;
  • Comply with our legal obligations under New Zealand law (for example, tax and record-keeping obligations); and
  • For any other purpose authorised by you or by the Privacy Act 2020.

CCTV in our vehicles and depots

Some Trekway Shuttles vehicles and depots may be fitted with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) that records both visual and audio footage. CCTV is used to monitor people and traffic movements, ensure the security of our facilities, help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, assist with the investigation of incidents, and promote passenger and community safety. Signage indicates where CCTV is operating.

CCTV footage is only viewed by authorised personnel for the purposes noted above, or to confirm that the system is operational. No attempt is made to identify individuals from CCTV footage except in cases of a reported or suspected incident requiring investigation.

If unlawful activity is recorded on our CCTV, we may pass footage to the New Zealand Police for the purpose of an investigation. Likewise, if Police believe unlawful activity has occurred, they may view or request footage that may assist with their investigation.

Cookies and analytics

A cookie is a small piece of data sent from a web server and stored on your device. Trekway Shuttles uses cookies primarily to enable a more efficient browsing experience while you use this site.

We may also use third-party analytics and advertising-measurement tools (such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and the Facebook/Meta Pixel) to understand how visitors use our website and to measure the effectiveness of our marketing. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, although some site features may not work as intended if you do.

Who we share your information with

Trekway Shuttles will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information except where we have your permission, where it is required to deliver the services you have purchased, or where we are required to do so by New Zealand law.

Third parties involved in delivering the services you have purchased (for example, our drivers, partner operators, payment processor Stripe, and email/communications providers) will only use your personal information for the purposes of delivering those services.

Trekway Shuttles does not, and will not, rent or sell your personal information.

Updating, correcting, or deleting your information

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to access and correct personal information we hold about you. You may request that we update, correct or delete your personal information at any time by contacting us using the details above. We may need to retain certain records (for example, completed booking and tax records) for the period required by law before we are able to delete them.

Social media

We may use social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn to share information about our services and from time to time to run competitions or promotions. If you connect with us or follow us on those platforms, they may collect your personal information for their own purposes. Those platforms have their own privacy policies that are independent of ours, and we recommend you read them before engaging with us on social media.

How we protect your personal information

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure unless processed through a secure payment system (for example, Stripe). As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Trekway Shuttles cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us via email, the contact form, the booking form, or a quote request. All information held by us is stored securely and handled in accordance with our obligations under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

How long we keep your information

We retain booking and transaction records for at least 7 years for tax and legal compliance. Marketing contact details are retained until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
